Pose will be drawing to an end with season three, and while closing the series on the right note is a challenge in itself, boss Steven Canals has revealed a separate issue for the writers' room.

Namely, living up to the iconic moment where Elektra Abundance-Wintour reads a transphobe for filth in season two.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, Steven Canals conceded that Dominique Jackson's inimitable performance as Elektra – and the many memes it sparked – "created so much pressure for season three".

"It's funny," Canals said, reflecting on the scene. "Seeing that happen, it created so much pressure for season three, for us to be like, 'Any time she reads people, it has to be epic.'

"Now everyone's expecting big... you know?"

What to Read Next

While the Pose team may have pressure trying to repeat Elektra's herstoric shade, they can at least acknowledge how "cool" it is to be "at the forefront of creating popular culture".

"It's super cool to feel like you're at the forefront of creating popular culture," Canals explained. "Because, obviously, when you're in the room, and you're breaking story, and you're talking about these characters or writing it, you're never thinking, 'Oh, this is going to become a viral moment. This is going to become a meme or a GIF.'

"You're just writing the story. So for us, the five of us in the writers' room, it's just super cool when those moments happen."

It's pretty cool for the viewers, too.

Pose season 3 currently airs on FX in the US, while a UK release date has not yet been confirmed.
