Pose's Jeremy Pope is a victim of homophobia in the first trailer for The Inspection.

Directed by Elegance Bratton, the drama – inspired by true events – also stars Bokeem Woodbine, best known for his turn as Shocker in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Mike Milligan in Fargo.

Pope plays Ellis French, a newcomer to the Marines who's shifted out to a South Carolina boot camp.

"He initially meets the physical requirements, but is not as successful in disguising his sexual orientation, making him the target of a near-lethal hazing from training instructor Leland Laws (Woodbine) and a fellow recruit, Laurence Harvey (Raúl Castillo)," teases a synopsis.

Across the trailer, it becomes evident that Ellis has also been shunned by his family for being gay.

Earlier this month, Pope was confirmed to be playing Jean-Michel Basquiat opposite Paul Bettany's Andy Warhol and Daniel Brühl's Bruno Bischofberger in biopic The Collaboration.

Woodbine currently stars in the Halo TV series as Soren-066, a Spartan deserter who later became an Insurrectionist leader on the Rubble. A second season is on the way.

The Inspection premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8, before heading to US cinemas on November 18.
