American Horror Story star Angelica Ross has claimed that creator Ryan Murphy ghosted her following a suggestion of a season with an all-Black cast.
The actor, who has appeared in two seasons - 1984 and Double Feature - of the anthology series, took to social media to claim that the creator of the show had discussed the idea of an all-Black season, but had gone radio silent in recent months.
Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Ross shared a screenshot of an email sent from Murphy in July 2020, which read: “Remember your idea about a Horror season starring Black women? Well, I'm doing it. Not sure of the story yet, but we will start a writers room in the fall.”

Ross, who has also appeared in Murphy’s Pose, posted a follow-up TikTok video where she alluded to the matter, before sharing a screenshot of an email she sent in February 2022, which she claimed had been ignored.
“After not hearing back. After sending flowers and no response, I sent one last email in Feb 2022 (it took about a year to film season 10 due to COVID) while still contractually in first position with the show.”

“Mind you, Marvel had called twice now. I haven’t heard from him since,” she wrote in the caption, with the email showing Ross asking to be a producer as well as starring.

Ross wrote a subsequent tweet in which she said that the lack of communication cost her a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with the actor claiming her calls were ignored. “It’s not JUST that the idea changed. Things change all the time,” she began.
“It’s that I called business affairs for MONTHS trying to get clarity if they were picking up my contract option or if I was ok to tell Marvel that I was available for whatever they were calling me for. I had been auditioning for THREE YEARS for Marvel. It’s that I was HELD in first position the whole time.”
Murphy and FX are yet to comment.
American Horror Story airs on FX in the US and Disney+ in the UK, where seasons 1-9 are also available to buy on Prime Video.
