Legends of Tomorrow spoilers follow.
DC's Legends of Tomorrow's sixth season premiered on Sunday night (May 2) on The CW, revealing a huge twist.
In the episode, the full, bizarre, backstory of Gary Green was revealed and he's not who, or what, we thought he was.
Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) was just as shocked as the rest of us to find out that Gary is actually an alien bounty hunter who had been sent to earth to collect its best and brightest and Sara was his unfortunate target.
Gary managed to hide his true identity thanks to his glasses, which make him appear human when he wears them.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Legends of Tomorrow showrunner Phil Klemmer broke down the big reveal, admitting: "It's not something we had planned all along."

He continued: "We did want to give Sara a companion for her adventure because we knew she was going to be in this fight to survive.
"We didn't want to give her somebody who was too useful because we wanted to keep her as the front and center action hero. So, we gave her the least useful person.
"But I think we just thought it was funny that Gary's partner in crime was this alien Kayla that he broke off the romance with."
Gary, played by (Adam Tsekhman), first debuted back in season three as Ava Sharpe's (Jes Macallan) hapless assistant. Ahead of the show's sixth season, he was promoted to a main cast member.
Legends of Tomorrow airs on The CW in the US. It airs on Sky One and NOW in the UK.
