Watchmen spoilers follow.
Watchmen's most important mystery has finally been solved. We now know the identity of Lube Man.
Dressed in a silver morph suit and goggles, the slippery enigma slid his way into fan discussions and theory forums when he made a rather bizarre and unexplained appearance in season one.

For those who need reminding, or have chosen to erase the moment from their memory, Lube Man was the guy who managed to evade Sister Night (Regina King) by dousing his silver costume in lubricant and skilfully sliding into a sewer drain. It was quite a moment to behold. But who the hell is he?
Well, it turns out the most popular theory – that Lube Man is FBI Agent Dale Petey – was bang on the money.
In a recent video interview with Rolling Stone, Watchmen showrunner Damon Lindelof and composers Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, Lube Man himself interrupted the Zoom call to recite a poem.
He wanted Reznor and Ross to compose a score for his rap, but in return he had to take off his mask and reveal his identity.
"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. It was the age of Aquarius. Now let's get precarious 'cause a mask won't stop this virus. Slipping into your mind from behind. Yeah, bro, that's innuendo," Lube Man rapped over a quickly composed beat.
True to his word, the slippery bugger then took off his mask to confirm that he is in fact Agent Petey, played by Dustin Kyle Ingram.
Lindelof then asked for the costume back, giving Ingram false hope that there may actually be a second season of Watchmen (there won't). "That doesn't belong to you. We need it back," he said.
"Come and get it, motherf**ker!" replied Ingram, before squirting himself with lube once again and running off camera. Good luck to him.
All episodes of Watchmen are available on Sky Catch Up and NOW TV.
