With the long wait for the announcement of Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan Kenobi prequel series finally over, the long wait for the show to actually arrive on Disney+ begins.

At its D23 Expo last weekend, Disney gave Star Wars fans something they've been demanding for years when it confirmed that Ewan would be reprising his role as the Jedi Master for some episodic adventures.

And just to sweeten the news, the actor appeared on stage to make the announcement himself.

Now, Star Wars' official website has revealed when exactly the prequel series will be set, and it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise to those who have been paying attention.

In a statement about all of the new Star Wars shows coming to Disney+, the website confirmed that the Obi-Wan series will be set eight years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, where we we last saw him delivering baby Luke Skywalker to his uncle and aunt on Tatooine.

It's yet to be revealed what his adventures will entail, but given Darth Maul is still alive in that time period, could a potential live-action re-imagining of their Rebels duel be on the cards?
