Sorry, The OA fans, but it seems the series won't be getting a movie to tie up all of the show's loose ends.

Earlier this month, Netflix made the controversial decision to cancel the supernatural drama after just two seasons, prompting fans to campaign for the streaming service to revive it.

According to Variety, creators Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij toyed with the idea of resolving all of the show's unanswered questions in a movie format, but a two-hour conclusion wouldn't have been enough.

Marling, who also stars as protagonist Prairie Johnson, took to Instagram over the weekend to thank the fans and bid farewell to the show.

“Your words and images move us deeply," she wrote. "Not because the show must continue, but because for some people its unexpected cancellation begs larger questions about the role of storytelling and its fate inside late capitalism’s push toward consolidation and economies of scale."

While Brit seems to be resigned to the show's fate, fans certainly aren't, and some even protested outside Netflix's offices in Los Angeles last week.

The OA seasons 1 and 2 are available on Netflix now.
