Star Trek: Discovery beamed in Mr Spock for season 2, but now it sounds like he might be leaving the show.
Doug Jones, who plays Discovery's Commander Saru, zapped us with the devastating news while speaking to Digital Spy and other press and Paleyfest.
He said: "Last year, in season 1, [Saru and Michael Burnham] were elbowing each other for the captain's chair – a rivalry sort of thing. This year we have a love and respect for each other that runs deep."
Doug went on to describe Michael as a "surrogate" sibling to Saru, and added that she'll have to say goodbye to her own adopted sibling, Spock.
He said: "As we have to say goodbye to our siblings once we've been through those storylines, now Burnham and Saru are going to have each other... that hopefully will be played out more in season 3."
It's already been confirmed that Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) and Number One (Rebecca Romijn) are set to leave the show, but could we soon see Captain Saru on our screens?

Doug added: "Saru's evolution has been delicious for me to play this year – I developed the character as a fear-based species... that's what the writers told me [he was] originally."
Season 2 has seen Saru "evolving into a fearless creature", he explained. "That was a whole spin I wasn't expecting, so it's like, OK, now where does that leave me?"
But don't worry, Saru won't lose his "gentlemanly side" or "manners", according to Doug. "I want to keep that for sure, but to see him fearless now means that I think he's more qualified now for the captain's chair... one day, whenever that happens, if that happens."
Discovery recently revealed the identity of the Red Angel, along with plans to revive the unisex minidress from The Next Generation.
