Actor Ron Silver died yesterday after a two-year batlle with esophageal cancer, reports The New York Post.

Silver, 62, is best known for his recurring role as Bruno Gianelli on The West Wing.

He also co-founded Creative Coalition, an advocacy group for entertainers.

"Ron Silver died peacefully in his sleep with his family around him early Sunday morning," said Robin Bronk, executive director of the Creative Coalition. "He had been fighting esophageal cancer for two years."

The actor has also appeared in Ali, Reversal Of Fortune and Silkwood.
