The cast of The West Wing are working on a reunion for a very important reason.

Richard Schiff – who played President Jed Bartlet's communications director Toby Ziegler in the Emmy-winning series – has shared on Twitter that he is working to bring the cast back together.

Schiff has been engaging in a discussion with a Twitter user over why his current show, The Good Doctor, has yet to acknowledge Black Lives Matter on its social feeds.

The actor argued that he had no control over the PR for the ABC medical drama, but was working on bringing the cast of The West Wing together for a fundraising script reading.

"I am working with my castmates from The West Wing for these purposes. Including a cast reunion and reading coming soon," he wrote.

Kim Webster, the actress who played Toby's secretary Ginger in The West Wing, replied directly to Schiff's tweet to ask: "I'd love to be included, if possible."

Schiff also praised the stars of Brooklyn Nine-Nine for donating $100,000 to fund bail relief for protestors arrested during Black Lives Matter protests.

Stephanie Beatriz, who plays Detective Rosa Diaz on the NBC sitcom, explained that she was donating partially because playing a police officer can contribute to a societal stigma.

As for The West Wing, there has been plenty of talk of a reunion or revival over the last year – with Rob Lowe telling Digital Spy recently that the entire cast would be willing to return.

"The problem is that Aaron [Sorkin] has never been able to figure out what a new iteration would be," he admitted. "Because I know we all know how special that show was, and every day we're blown away by how people's love for it just continues."
