The Great British Bake Off 2018 start date has yet to be confirmed, but that hasn't stopped one former contestant from dishing out advice for this year's amateur bakers.

Yan Tsou, a favourite on Bake Off 2017, told the new participants to "take note" as she shared the downside of appearing on a baking show on Twitter.

Apparently, creating elaborate desserts and towering showstoppers on one of the most-watched TV shows can make it difficult to pick up a packet of sweet treats in the supermarket.

"Things they don't warn you about when you go on #GBBO," the scientist wrote. "You can never, ever again pick up a pack of@CadburyUK mini rolls in the supermarket without someone saying something like, 'surely you can make those now'."

After a quick scan through the photos Yan has shared of her incredible baking efforts on social media, we see her point.

What to Read Next

Everyone's favourite baking show is returning to our screens later this year, following the successful 2017 series – Channel 4's first – starring new judge Prue Leith and new hosts Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig alongside Paul Hollywood.

At this stage, we don't have any details on who will be taking part in this year's series. According to the online application page, successful applicants should have been contacted by a member of the Bake Off production team by March 16.

So for now, we're counting down the days until GBBO is back.
