It all kicked off on The Island with Bear Grylls tonight (May 8) as the contestants had to deal with a literal storm on top of the thunderous rowing they've been doing.
The group spent the night being hit with torrential rainfall brought on by a hurricane, thanks to them deciding to go swimming rather than finish crafting protection for the camp.
They got the camera crew to radio to Bear's safety team to ask to be evacuated from the island, which was at first impossible due to the weather.
But by the time the safety team arrived, Aran had started to convince everyone that they should see this through to the end.
The group eventually elected to stay, after Bear's team gave the camp food, fresh clothes and tarpaulin to hang over them to keep the rain out.
However, viewers on Twitter questioned whether the handouts were cheating, as the majority of the contestants wouldn't have stayed otherwise:

Channel 4 has issued a statement defending the decision to provide aid to the contestants (via Radio Times), which reads:
"It was clear in the programme that the weather was extreme. These were exceptional circumstances and as is shown in the episode, the intervention allowed was for duty of care to the islanders' health and safety."
Viewers have criticised this series of The Island for the campmates' bullying of contestant Freddie, and forcing Phil off the show against his will.
