I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! star Alex Scott has broken a show rule in order to be with her girlfriend Jess Glynne during a family emergency. Jess' mother Alexandra recently suffered a devastating stroke that required brain surgery.

When Alex became the first campmate to exit the jungle on Friday night (28 November), fans were hoping to see Jess waiting for her at the end of the bridge. However, the former footballer and sports pundit was instead greeted by her close friend Regan Coleman - immediately sparking her concern for Alexandra's condition.

Though all of the celebrities are expected to remain in Australia until the series ends, Alex decided to break that rule and head home early so she could support Jess during the difficult time.

"It's been a hard couple of months. But Jess was like 'I want you to go on the show and do it for my mum'. It's been tough because I want to be here for the wrap party and I have to get home straight away," she said (via The Express).

"She's my Jessica, and I'm going home to be her rock. My campmates knew what I was going through and I just want to thank everyone at ITV and my camp mates because they've all shown me so much support."

The star shared that she had been in two minds about appearing on the reality show following Alexandra's medical emergency, but was urged to seize the opportunity by the singer.

"It's been a tough time for us. The decision to enter the jungle was a difficult one for both of us and her family," she tearfully told the Daily Mail.

"But Jess never wanted me to step away from not doing it. I knew there was always a possibility of her not being across the bridge, if her mum hadn't got better or if things had been getting worse, which they have been.

"But it was a big decision for me to not pass this opportunity and Jess was the one who pushed me to be here."

I'm a Celebrity… airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
