Love Is Blind season eight marked a first in the show's history, with a groundbreaking cliffhanger that thrust two of its contestants into uncharted territory.
Never before has a contestant questioned whether or not the person they blindly said "yes" to was someone who'd once attempted to connect with them in the outside world. Yet that was on the cards for the newly-engaged Taylor and Daniel.
Upon meeting her intended for the first time outside of the pods, Taylor was concerned that she might recognise him. The thought chipped away at her, until she put it to him the following day.
"When the doors opened and I saw you, I thought, 'Wow, he looks familiar to me'," she told Daniel, before alleging that she thought he had once followed and then unfollowed her on Instagram.
Taylor even went as far as to state that she was "pretty confident" that it was him.
Digging for answers, she asked Daniel about a Christmas-themed picture she thought she remembered.
What to Read Next
Daniel denied previously following her, explaining: "I don't know why I would have followed you and then unfollowed you."
Taylor shared some concerns about the possibility, but nothing further was revealed or confirmed either way in the episode.
Since the show started airing, Taylor has opened up about her side of the situation in an interview with Glamour magazine.
Taylor shared: "The primary concern was that he knew what I looked like during the experiment.
"I'm guilty, too, of judging people off their looks and I'm sure that's been done to me. I wanted that to be completely removed from this entire situation. Hence, Love Is Blind. So the thought of that very premise being compromised was terrifying to me."
Love Is Blind hosts Vanessa and Nick Lachey have also weighed in on the dilemma, with the former sharing some understanding of Taylor's apprehension.
"[This season] really highlighted how social media does impact a relationship," said Vanessa (via Us Weekly).
"If somebody is following you and does know a lot about you, is that fair?" she questioned. "And it didn't give you an opportunity to truly get to know them for who they are because that is a persona. That is why it's Instagram and it's posted."
Of Taylor's approach to the situation, Vanessa said: "She had this little voice in the back of her head, and I'm really proud of her for speaking up on it."
Meanwhile, her husband Nick didn't see it the same way, with Vanessa sharing that he didn't necessarily 'think that it was that big of a deal'.
However, it still remains to be seen whether or not Daniel did actually reach out to Taylor prior to the pods – and Daniel doesn't appear to have addressed it outside of the show.
Either way, fans want to know whether their relationship be able to survive this cliffhanger...
Here's what we know at this point, with eight episodes released so far.
Did Love Is Blind's Daniel follow Taylor on Instagram before the show?
The short answer to that question is that we simply do not know for sure.
We expect that Netflix might want to leave this one to potentially play out across the next batch of episodes. For that, you'll have to wait until February 21.
Are Taylor and Daniel from Love Is Blind together now?
Despite the trailer teasing some intense drama to come, it seems as though Taylor and Daniel are still on good terms (whether together romantically or not) as Taylor has implored fans to continue to view Daniel in a positive light.
"I would like people to remember the character that Daniel showed throughout the pod experience up to this point," the nurse also told Glamour.
Taylor admitted that she "had a lot of anxiety about this bit of the story" airing.
"I thought it was going to be made into a bigger thing than it really was at the time. It was in the teaser. It was in the trailer. I knew it was going to be a part of the storyline for me, but I just feel like it's a lot more hype than it needs to be," she added.
While there's some uncertainty over whether or not Daniel did once follow Taylor prior to the experiment, he's definitely following her now! You'll be pleased to learn that she's following him too, although we know from experience that this isn't necessarily an indicator of whether a reality show couple are still together or not.
For that, we'll have to just keep on watching...
