The Great British Bake Off host Noel Fielding's future on the Channel 4 show has been confirmed.

Speculation around Fielding's role on Bake Off arose after news broke that his Apple TV+ series The Completely Made-up Adventures of Dick Turpin is being scrapped, despite the show being renewed for a second season last year.

However, a spokeswoman for the TV star has now shut down the rumours by confirming that Fielding will return to host the next series of Bake Off.

"There has been absolutely no discussion about Noel stepping down from Bake Off," she shared (via Deadline).

"We have been in contact with Channel 4 and Love Productions throughout all the speculation and his 'stepping down' has never been part of that dialogue. We can confirm he will be returning to co-host the next series of Bake Off."

The Completely Made-up Adventures of Dick Turpin, which debuted on Apple TV+ last March, provides a fictional take on the famous 18th century highwayman (played in the series by Fielding).

While it was confirmed in July that the show had been renewed for season two, The Sun reported last week that is now being scrapped.

As well as Fielding, Dick Turpin stars Downton Abbey's Hugh Bonneville, People Just Do Nothing's Asim Chaudhry and Friday Night Dinner's Tamsin Greig.

Previously speaking to Digital Spy about the show, Fielding explained how he worked with younger writers who had grown up on his early 2000s comedy show The Mighty Boosh.

"Sometimes they will say to me, 'Oh, that's a little bit Boosh'," he recalled. "Because they know all of the episodes, and I've forgotten them.

"I think I sort of went away from Boosh because we did 20 years together on it, and it was very special for us. And then I felt like I couldn't really do that kind of comedy in that way."

The Great British Bake Off and its spin-off Bake Off: An Extra Slice both air on Channel 4 in the UK. In the US, it's known as The Great British Baking Show, and streams on Netflix.
