Dancing on Ice spoilers follow.

Dancing on Ice has revealed a returning twist during its 2025 series premiere, as the first six celebrities entered the rink.

Tonight's (January 12) episode saw Coronation Street's Sam Aston, TOWIE star Ferne McCann, Hollyoaks' Chelsee Healey, former footballer Anton Ferdinand, Springwatch presenter Michaela Strachan, and Love Island's Chris Taylor perform their debut routines on the ice.

They were scored by judges Oti Mabuse, Ashley Banjo, Christopher Dean and Jayne Torvill, before the vote was opened to the public.

However, in a surprise twist, co-host Stephen Mulhern revealed that last year's change to the elimination process would be staying in place.

Stephen explained that the remaining six celebrities will perform next week and the vote will open as normal. But, similar to last series, there will be no skate-off to save the celebrities.

Instead, after combining the votes with the judges' scores, the lowest-ranking couple would be leaving the competition. "It's brutal but I love it," said Stephen.

Elsewhere in the episode, Dame Sarah Storey made an appearance in the studio, after having to exit the show due to a training injury.

The Paralympic grand champion appeared alongside her professional partner Sylvain Longchambon, with her foot still in a cast.

Speaking about her injury, Dame Sarah said: "We'd been training together for about four weeks and we'd had a really good session at the end of that fourth week. I was just doing something simple for the finish before we stopped, and it wasn't so simple."

The star explained how her fall resulted in a broken ankle which has required "surgery", "two plates" and "11 screws", but reassured fans that she can walk and is "on the mend".

Dancing on Ice airs continues next Sunday, January 19 on ITV1 and ITVX.
