Channel 4 has announced the 2024 release date for The Great British Bake Off - and there's not long to wait.

The beloved baking show will return to screens on Tuesday, September 24 at 8pm with a new host of amateur bakers ready to show off their skills.

The release date news was shared on the show's official social media accounts alongside a photo of returning judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith with presenters Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond.

"Bake Off is back. Tuesday 24th September. 8pm. Channel 4. #GBBO," reads the caption.

Channel 4 has yet to confirm the contestants appearing in the upcoming series.

The celebrity version of the show - in aid of Channel 4's Stand Up to Cancer - aired on screens earlier this year with contestants including Doctor Who's Jodie Whittaker, EastEnders star Danny Dyer, former Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Oti Mabuse and Heartstopper's Joe Locke.

This year's Star Bakers were TOWIE's Spencer Matthews, Celebrity Juice presenter Leigh Francis, This Morning host Dermot O'Leary, BBC Radio 2 DJ Sara Cox and comedian David O’Doherty.

Spin-off series Bake Off: The Professionals then followed in July, with professional pastry chefs competing against each other for the coveted crown.

In the end, it was Tanuj and Narayan from The Intercontinental London at The O2 who were announced season nine's winners.

Last year's civilian Bake Off saw cheeky chappie Matty Edgell win the show, with Dan and Josh as runners-up.

The Great British Bake Off and its spin-off Bake Off: An Extra Slice both air on Channel 4 in the UK. In the US, it's known as The Great British Baking Show, and streams on Netflix.
