Love Is Blind has finally docked on the shores of the UK, and is currently releasing on Netflix.

Blessed with a so-ridiculous-it's-genius concept, the show is riveting audiences with the latest merry-go-round of chaotic choices, messy love triangles and heart-stopping romances.

This time, though, there's also something a little extra to shout about.

No, it's not the opportunity to see the full range of the UK's numerous distinctive accents; it's a little slice of something we all need. One of Love Is Blind UK's most popular couples - Demi and Ollie - is showcasing how to navigate chronic conditions in a relationship, and it's the representation we desperately need.

Demi has endometriosis, a condition that causes tissue similar to the lining of the uterus to grow outside the uterus, which affects approximately 1 in 10 women in the UK. Her fiancé Ollie has ADHD, like 2.6 million others in the UK.

The pair of Londoners bonded early in the pods, forming a connection through their "deep chats" and shared humour. Demi cemented Ollie's belief in their love story by surprising him with a pod full of balloons and a handmade card on his birthday back in the second episode, before he proposed without ever seeing her face in episode four.

Any keen watcher of Love Is Blind knows that vulnerability is a crucial ingredient for intimacy to form through that opaque glass wall – and Demi took the first step for this lovestruck couple.

In episode three, the usually effervescent Demi arrived for a date with Ollie fighting off tears. Despite feeling safe with Ollie and knowing he's "not judgmental", it took her a moment to verbalise the struggle. When she did, 1.5 million other people in the UK and millions more around the globe felt her pain, too.

Demi shared how endometriosis could make it hard for her to conceive naturally, how she "physically, mentally" struggles each month, and how it "has really ruined relationships".

Terrified that the condition means she "isn’t enough", Demi poured her heart out to Ollie, who held it carefully, with tenderness. He said that Demi "is more than enough" and endometriosis didn't change how he felt about her, providing the exact reassurance that Demi needed in that moment.

While the details of Demi's medical history weren't shared, endometriosis can inflict a cascade of symptoms. Some include painful periods, fertility difficulties, pelvic pain, mood swings and painful sex. It starts as early as the first menstrual period and lasts until menopause. There is no cure, and treatments are extremely limited.

Romancing someone with endometriosis comes with some added strains, particularly because the condition's cause continues to mystify medical experts and is vastly under-researched. The associated hormonal symptoms can play havoc with a person's mental health, and that's before taking into account the physical symptoms.

It was beautiful to see Demi face the challenges openly and honestly, with an unflinching trust in Ollie's love and their connection. She rose in the face of the overwhelming stigma and shame attached to gynaecological conditions and gave Ollie her whole truth.

The added stigma attached to such health conditions demonstrates Demi's incredible power, reminding us all that vulnerability is a strength, never a weakness. Its importance is also paramount in a romantic relationship, where we must feel safe enough to let the other person see all of us—yes, even those messy, dark bits we try to hide in our mental safes.

Demi's is one half of some desperately needed representation. The 16 million disabled people and 15 million chronically ill people rarely get to see their romances played out on screen. And they do have romances, no matter how hard we try to desexualise anyone who isn't the picture of health.

Although the couple faced some drama during the group's honeymoon in Greece, with Ollie almost exiting the show, the duo moved into the apartments in episode six, still buzzing to be around each other.

And then came the second half of this beautiful piece of real-life representation. In a cosy exchange on the sofa, Ollie opened up about his ADHD diagnosis. Demi says she'd noticed his pacing and impulsiveness — another sign of their devoted attention to one another.

While Ollie initially struggled to verbalise his experience, admitting that he didn't tell an ex until a year into their relationship, his comfort with Demi ultimately won. He explains that he struggles every day to manage the impact of ADHD.

As Ollie says, ADHD affects people in various ways. Signs are generally split into inattentiveness and hyperactivity. Inattentive symptoms include being easily distracted, appearing not to listen and forgetfulness. Hyperactivity signs could encompass an inability to sit still, concentration difficulties, excessive movement or talking, interrupting conversations and impulsivity.

Reflecting Ollie's earlier reaction to her diagnosis, Demi held space for Ollie perfectly. She listened attentively and reminded him that even if he does things differently, it doesn't make them any less worthwhile. Their total ease as a couple shines through the screen in these vulnerable conversations.

Ollie's diagnosis gives us, and Demi, a little insight into how his mind operates, and their shared vulnerability has helped them lay a foundation of mutual understanding to build a solid relationship on.

Their kindness, patience, and empowering responses to one another need to be celebrated as an important moment for television – particularly in the dating space. We all deserve a piece of that shared respect in our relationships because too many of us shave off bits of ourselves to fit into another person's life more easily.

That temptation is never stronger than when someone is dealing with a stigmatised diagnosis, like endometriosis and ADHD. Sometimes people choose the path of silence to become more palatable and avoid judgment; at other times it's easier to slip into masking mode to cope with the overwhelming impact of a condition.

Whatever the reasons, too many people hide parts of their personas to fit into relationship norms. But this Love Is Blind couple proves that no diagnosis makes anyone less loveable.

Demi and Ollie’s trusting bond shows everyone that we can expose our most complex struggles to the world and still come out shining. No matter what issue someone might be dealing with, a little vulnerability can clear the path to true love and companionship.

We're yet to find out whether the duo will make the ultimate choice and wed in the final episodes, (coming to Netflix on August 21), but the impact of their choice to share will endure either way.

Demi and Ollie's example should echo three simple things for everyone watching: we're all loveable, we're all deserving of respect, and we all deserve support.
