Further detailing her fashion secrets, Leith explained how much her husband, John Playfair, is involved in her wardrobe choices.

"He buys a lot of my stuff," she said. "It’s wonderful. Between him and the girl who does all my Bake Off styling, I never have to go shopping.

"I hate shopping. They just bring stuff and I say 'yes' or 'no'."

The husband and wife duo were on the programme to promote their new show Prue Leith’s Cotswold Kitchen.

Reflecting on what it’s been like to work together on the new ITV production, Playfair said: "I am a virgin in this job [television]", with Leith noting: "He doesn’t take directions".

Prue Leith’s Cotswold Kitchen airs on ITV1 and ITVX.

The Great British Bake Off and its spin-off Bake Off: An Extra Slice both air on Channel 4 in the UK. In the US, it's known as The Great British Baking Show, and streams on Netflix.

The 15th series of Bake Off is expected to hit screens in September.
