Former Gogglebox star Josh Tapper has made the move into politics as he reveals his new career change.

Josh appeared on the Channel 4 reality show from 2013 to 2018 alongside his sister Amy and parents Jonathan and Nikki.

Now, however, he has turned in the TV for constituencies as he has been selected by the Labour Party to run against Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden at the next general election.

Confirming the news on X, he wrote: "I'm thrilled and honoured to have been selected as Labour's parliamentary candidate for Hertsmere.

"Thank you so much to local members for your support – I won't let you down. The work to unseat the Deputy Prime Minister starts now!"

After joining the Civil Service in 2017, Josh then began working with the political party as Sir Keir Starmer became leader (per Sky News). He stood for selection in the North London seat of Chipping Barnet in 2022.

It comes as the current season of Gogglebox continues, with plenty of hilarious moments as well as the return of the beloved Malone family.

The 23rd series has seen this year's participants confused by Netflix hit One Day, with a hilarious comparison being drawn by Jenny and Lee.

"There's a lot of relationships, Lee, that'll have been like this," said Jenny while watching the devastating romance show, to which Lee replied: "What, friends for years and years?"

"I don't wanna shag you!" Lee quickly added, before Jenny quipped: "Well no, that's because you're not made that way. Are you?"

To which Lee said: "Even if I wasn't?" with Jenny adding: "You never know."

Gogglebox airs and streams on Friday nights at 9pm on Channel 4.
