Great British Bake Off fans have just had one of the show's most intriguing questions answered. And we're not sure if it's entirely what we expected.

On Wednesday's (December 26) Big Fat Quiz of the Year, 2018 contestant Kim-Joy and much-loved presenter Noel Fielding were asked what happened to the contestants' weird, wonderful, delicious leftover cakes after the judges and cameras have finished with them.

Fielding quipped: "Do you want a juicy bit of gossip, Jimmy [Carr]? Prue occasionally, if there’s any cakes leftover, takes them home for her pigs."

He went on to say: "That’s her pet name for me and Sandi [Toksvig]. She genuinely has pigs."

If this is the case, those pigs have got themselves a sweet deal. Other lucky benefactors of the GBBO leftovers apparently include the show's crew, who apparently "descend" on the best ones, according to Kim-Joy.

Meanwhile, Jane Beedle (of the 2016 GBBO class) took home the Christmas Star Baker accolade after a suitably festive and drama-filled Christmas special episode.

Even though Jane's laufabraud shattered when she took her bake up to the table to be judged by Prue and Paul, she still walked away smiling. A Christmas miracle!

The Great New Year's Bake Off will air on New Year's Day at 7.40pm on Channel 4. Applications for series 10 of The Great British Bake Off are open now.
