BBC show Saturday Kitchen was given a little extra colour today (December 8) after a viewer used the C-word during a live phone-in.

'Dan from Edinburgh' dialled in to ask host Matt Tebbutt and his guests about festive food and what they'd recommend for Christmas day. However, his choice of words was very blunt and very unexpected.

He said: "Every c**t is banging on about parsnips and all that – what's a barrie side dish for Christmas?" Woah.

Presenter Matt struggled to keep a straight face after hearing the word, but he managed to maintain the show's atmosphere and it continued to tick along nicely following the seriously awkward moment.

Today's guests barely even flinched at Dan's query, with Yotam Assaf Ottolenghi happily offering his advice.

Matt then decided to acknowledge the situation after the question was answered, claiming that he didn't even hear the swear: "If you heard any bad language from Dan there we apologise. I didn't hear but there we go!

"Thanks for all your calls and tweets today!"

Although Saturday Kitchen's guests failed to notice the Scotsman's very strong language, the folks over on Twitter certainly didn't miss it.

The latest Saturday morning swear comes after Matt was forced to apologise on behalf of a swearing chef last year.

Pre-watershed guys, you're pre-watershed.

Saturday Kitchen returns next Saturday (December 15) on BBC One.
