When, when, when is Saturday Night Takeaway back?
The weekend staple has been on our screens since 2002. Presented and produced by Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, the variety-style show really is their baby.
Earlier this year, when news broke that Ant would be taking a break from his television duties in order to focus on his recovery, there were a lot of questions regarding whether or not Saturday Night Takeaway would go ahead without him.
Here's everything we know.
Saturday Night Takeaway 2019: When is it on?
Sadly, SNT will *not* be on our screens in 2019.
What to Read Next
A statement from Ant and Dec's representative was published a few months ago, confirming that Ant would be taking a break "from all television presenting roles until 2019".
We'd forgive you for thinking this could mean that he'd be back in time. But Saturday Night Takeaway, which usually airs in February, actually begins filming the year before – which would have meant that Ant would have needed to fulfil work commitments from mid-2018.
"Production and filming for a Saturday Night Takeaway series in February would normally have already started, and continue throughout 2018 and early 2019," the rep explained in August.
Saturday Night Takeaway: When does it start again?
The show will be back, but not until 2020.
ITV confirmed that neither they, nor Ant or Dec, "wanted to compromise the quality of the show" and therefore would be resting it for a year.
"They will instead bring the show back in 2020, bigger and better than ever," the statement said.
Saturday Night Takeaway: Who will present?
It's hard to imagine Saturday Night Takeaway without Ant and Dec.
We have every reason to believe, based on all this information, that Ant will be back to undertake his usual presenting duties in time for the 2020 series.
Saturday Night Takeaway 2019: What have Ant and Dec said?
Ant has spoken about his break from television, which also saw him bow out of I'm a Celebrity's most recent series.
He said: "My recovery is going very well, and for that to continue, having spoken to Dec and ITV, I have made the decision to take the rest of the year off... I'd like to thank both Dec and ITV for their continued support and I look forward to getting back to work in the new year."
Meanwhile, Dec released a statement of his own which read: "Whilst I am obviously sad at the thought of being without my best friend in Australia this year, I am proud of the work Ant has been doing privately and I am fully supportive of his decision.
"I'm looking forward to us both being reunited on screen in 2019."
With Britain's Got Talent 2019 kicking off soon, fans are eagerly awaiting news of Ant's return...
Saturday Night Takeaway airs on ITV.
