There are so many exciting shows coming in 2018, it's almost enough to make us forget we're not getting any new Game of Thrones episodes until 2019. Still, there's a lot of amazing telly to distract us until then. As you're about to find out...

1

Luther series five - TBC (BBC)

Suit, Human, Facial hair, Photography, White-collar worker, Businessperson, Beard,

A broadcast date for Luther hasn't been confirmed yet – all we know is it's 'coming soon' according to the BBC, but it can't come soon enough as far as we're concerned.

The plot's being kept under wraps, but according to star Idris Elba and creator Neil Cross, it'll be business as usual for the troubled detective.

"The face at the window. The hand under the bed. The shadow at the end of the street. Who's going to stop them, if not John Luther?" Cross said. Who indeed?

Castle Rock - July 25 (Hulu)

Hair, Face, Forehead, Eyebrow, Head, Hairstyle, Nose, Chin, Cheek, Eye,

We've only a week to wait for Castle Rock, the upcoming psychological horror series which takes the stories of Stephen King and intertwines characters and themes from the fictional town of Castle Rock to create your new favourite spook show.

Conversation, Arm, Interaction, Fun, Room, Photography, Gesture, White-collar worker, Sitting, Job,

The bad news – series four will be the final season of everyone's favourite musical rom-com. The good news? We'll be getting an extended run – with 18 episodes instead of the usual 13. And with Rebecca in jail after pleading guilty to trying to murder her ex-boyfriend, there'll be plenty to fill those extra episodes.

After Life - TBC (Netflix)

Netflix

Ricky Gervais' first sitcom since Derek follows Tony (Gervais) a man with a perfect life – until his wife dies, and Tony contemplates suicide. But he decides instead to live long enough to punish the world by saying and doing whatever he likes. Which basically sounds like Curb Your Enthusiasm meets Gervais' Twitter account. Colour us intrigued.

With a more central focus on Bill Pullman's Detective Ambrose, as he investigates a new case, The Sinner's changing things up significantly for season two – especially as producer Jessica Biel has already said she won't be returning. We're excited to see if they can maintain the critical and audience acclaim that the twist-filled first season achieved.
