Marvel's Jessica Jones season two arrived on Netflix last year with fans and critics agreeing, despite the lack of David Tennant action, that the follow-up had given fans another very solid batch of episodes.
And the story isn't over yet, Netflix renewing the show for a third season back in April.
Jessica Jones season 3 release date: When will it arrive on Netflix?
Season two was commissioned at the beginning of 2016, shortly after the opening run first landed on Netflix. It took two years to reach the screen, though this was down to accommodating the scheduling for The Defenders (which is not expected to return).
Filming on season three started in June last year, and it was confirmed that lead star Krysten Ritter would be heading behind the camera for one episode to make her directorial debut.
Jessica Jones season 3 cast and characters: Who'll be back?
Krysten Ritter is back as Jones once again, as is Rachael Taylor, who plays her adoptive sister/former BFF Trish.
The two were captured together on set fairly early on, confirming that there won't be a major cast overhaul in the final season.
What to Read Next
Jeri Hogarth (Carrie-Anne Moss), who was diagnosed with ALS (aka motor neurone disease) last season and has up to eight years left to live will also be back, alongside Eka Darville as Jessica's drug-addicted neighbour Ducasse. He hooked up with Trish in the last chapter, which might cause some issues.
We're pretty sure that Jessica's slightly nasty mother Alisa (played by English actor Janet McTeer) won't be back after being dispatched by the aforementioned Trish. Though, of course, death is never really the end, or is it?
Given the absence of Luke Cage (Mike Colter) in season two, it would be nice to see the pair back together once agin. But his show has also been cancelled, so whether he will feature remains to be seen.
However Colter did tease a possible Luke Cage return when he left a comment under a photo of Ritter and Moss on Instagram, writing: "Wow so familiar. I felt like I was there!"
Jessica's new squeeze Arocho, played by JR Ramirez, managed to survive the events of season two and it seems like there could be happiness in store for the couple (cue him dying in the first ep of the next season). He hasn't popped up in any of Ritter's Instagram posts, so his future is uncertain at the moment.
We're missing out someone here... oh yeah!
Jessica Jones season 3 Kilgrave: Will David Tennant return?
Despite being very definitely killed in the first season finale, that didn't stop the former Doctor Who star's return during the most recent episodes; though it wasn't an actual physical return for supervillain Kilgrave. He appeared due to the damaged psyche of Jessica (IS THIS THE CASE?).
When asked if Kilgrave could return in some form for another season, showrunner Melissa Rosenberg teased: "Every door is open."
Rosenberg also tweeted the following, which is essentially confirmation that Tennant will feature in some way.
And the pair visited Ace Comic Con together, so it really does look like we're getting a whole load more of Kilgrave to go out with a bang.
This is going to be fun.
Jessica Jones season 3 plot and spoilers: What will happen?
Given that Trish has seemingly obtained superhuman powers through the meddling of Malus, it would seem appropriate that the third season introduces her alter ego, Hellcat.
After season two had arrived, showrunner Melissa Rosenberg opened up about the Trish twist and said that Hellcat appearing in season three is a possibility.
"She's really on a deep level wanting to feel strong and powerful and safe, and wanting to provide that for others who have her kind of experience, so there's a genuine heroism in her, but there's also something borne out of damage, that really fuels her ambition and why she's so desperate to be someone," she explained.
"You never want to box yourself in, but you do want to lay some groundwork. That's all to say, I don't know."
What's more, filming photos have shown Trish running after somebody and wearing a fancy dress costume, hinting at her first steps into her comic book persona of Hellcat.
For those not familiar with the character, Patsy Walker first appeared in a 1944 issue of Miss America Magazine and went on to be an assistant to Hank McCoy, aka mutant superhero Beast. Hellcat was introduced more than 30 years later in The Avengers and then joined superhero team The Defenders in 1977.
Trish has also been in a relationship with Jessica's neighbour Ducasse, which is sure to raise its complicated head next time around. Speaking of Ducasse, during season two he began working as a private investigator for the mysterious Cheng, in his rival consulting agency. Again, this is bound to throw up some spanners for Jessica to get violently mad at. Is it possible that Cheng will be revealed to be a superhero/villain of some description?
As for Jessica herself, season three will undoubtedly look at the aftermath of her mother's death, the IGH revelations and her new relationship with Arocho. And let's hope, like many fans out there, that Kilgrave is back in some form to haunt Miss Jones.
