Netflix movie Nightbooks' first trailer gives us a look at a cruel witch played by Krysten Ritter.

Recognised for her performances as Marvel heroine Jessica Jones and Jesse Pinkman's beloved Jane Margolis in Breaking Bad, this is more family-oriented material for the actress.

The action itself centres on two youngsters named Alex (Winslow Fegley) and Yasmin (Lidya Jewett), who are imprisoned by Ritter's sorceress Natacha in a New York City apartment.

They must tell a scary story each night in order to stay alive. Spooky!

In other Netflix movie-related news, Jason Momoa's latest flick Sweet Girl is now available to stream on the platform.

Digital Spy awarded it two stars in our review, writing: "The movie ticks off every cliché in the revenge-thriller rulebook, throwing in some conspiracy-thriller conventions here and there too (you better believe there's a crooked politician). That's not a fatal issue but it's Sweet Girl's execution of them that makes it feel so stale.

"You can follow well-trodden ground as you long as you do it well, but Sweet Girl wastes its main strength. Momoa has considerable action chops, yet almost every fight is delivered in shaky, close-up camera shots with rapid editing, often in low lighting that leaves you wondering what's going on. Combined with the lack of peril, the action set pieces fail to raise the pulse."

Nightbooks begins streaming on Netflix from September 15.
