Aidan Turner has said the future of Poldark remains up in the air.
BBC One's period drama is gearing up to launch its fourth series later this year, with a fifth expected to follow. However, there's been talk from even Aidan Turner that Poldark may well end at that point.
In a recent interview with the Radio Times, Aidan acknowledged that there's no official word yet on the future of Poldark beyond the aforementioned fifth series.
"Definitely we're going to do season five, we're going to shoot the fifth one. After that, I don't know," the actor said.
"We'll have to see how it all goes, but definitely for five. It's kind of one step at a time."
The good news is that Turner also let slip that this year's episodes are likely to air much earlier than Poldark's traditional summer timeslot on BBC One.

"Sooner rather than later [they'll air], I imagine," Turner predicted. "I think it's probably a different time to last year, it's probably earlier from what I can gather.
"They need to finish post-production and all of those sorts of things, so that's when I step out."
While that post-production work gets under way, Aidan will be temporarily leaving Poldark behind to make his West End debut as an Irish terrorist in Martin McDonagh's The Lieutenant of Inishmore.
Poldark airs on BBC One in the UK and PBS over in the US.
