A beloved period drama starring Rivals' Aidan Turner and The Forsytes' Eleanor Tomlinson has found a new streaming home in the UK. Based on the series of novels of the same name by Winston Graham, Poldark follows Turner's Captain Ross Poldark, an English veteran who returns home to Cornwall after serving in the American War of Independence, finding his inheritance in ruins and his first love betrothed to his cousin.
Created by Debbie Horsfield, who also wrote recent period drama The Forsytes, Poldark stars Tomlinson as Ross's servant Demelza Carne, who helps him rebuild his fortune and becomes his wife.
Originally airing on BBC One for five seasons between 2015 and 2019, Poldark has now been added to Disney+ in the UK.

Poldark boasts an impressive score on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, with the final season, airing in the summer of 2019, holding a Certified Fresh badge on the website with a critic score of 86% from 21 reviews.
The final season has received praise for the emotional, if a tad far-fetched, storylines, with The Guardian writing that Poldark was "pretty great television", though their review noted "there was just too much of everything".

Elsewhere, The Guardian described the final round as "silly, eye-roll-inducing and the perfect farewell".
The cast for the series is rounded out by Heida Reed as Elizabeth Poldark, Kyle Soller as Francis Poldark, and Jack Farthing as the protagonist's enemy, George Warleggan.
