How? Easy. But first a little history. The show was commissioned by Netflix, yes, but also by (the publicly owned) Channel4 – it was a co-production from the earliest stages.
Channel 4 showed the first episode themselves and dropped the rest on their streaming site, All4. (Was the show's extreme darkness too edgy for E4?)

The upshot is that even though Netflix own the global rights to broadcast the show (including in the UK), All4 also still get to show it.
