Written by Pete Jackson, the creator of the BBC Radio 4 Comedy Drama, Love in Recovery, his new series, Somewhere Boy, will tell the story of 18-year-old Danny who has spent all his life inside a house in the middle of nowhere having been convinced by his dad that the outside world was "full of monsters waiting to take him away".
The 25-second video unveils a brief glimpse into Danny's life in the remote house, where at one point his dad placed a gun on top of the living room table after the day's surveillance. All that soon came to an end when the police burst in to ruin the mirage the duo had lived in for so many years.
"They've always been out there," his dad's voice is heard saying. "But if we can hide, maybe one day they'll go."
But even after being taken somewhere safe and asked by a fellow young man if he truly thinks there are monsters out there, Danny's answer solidifies his difficulty grasping into his new reality.
"My dad wouldn't lie," he calmly responded.
Formerly known as The Birth of Daniel F Harris, the show will follow Danny's life as he's locked away as a young child by his dad, Steve, who was suffered something akin to a nervous breakdown following the death of his wife in a car crush.
"Steve thought he'd done the right thing," reads the show's description. "Bringing Danny up safe and warm, away from murderers and wars and drugs and arsehole governments and burgers and evil."
But after 18 years of being happy listening to Benny Goodman records and watching old movies with no sad endings, Danny's world suddenly explodes and he has to come to terms with his new reality and find the real monster – the one that killed his mum.

"I couldn't be more excited to bring this story to the screen, and couldn't think of more perfect collaborators than Clerkenwell Films and Channel 4," commented Jackson back in 2020, when the show was first commissioned.
"It offers a great opportunity to re-evaluate our world through the eyes of someone for whom it's all completely new."
Somewhere Boy is coming soon to Channel 4 and All 4.
