Nominations for the National Television Awards 2018 are officially out, with Doctor Foster, I'm a Celebrity and Broadchurch leading the way.

The upcoming ceremony will air on ITV later in the month, hosted once again by perennial favourite Dermot O'Leary. On Tuesday (January 9), shortlists for all of the major categories were revealed.

Doctor Foster and Broadchurch each earned a pair of nominations, for Drama Series and Crime Drama respectively as well as one each for stars Suranne Jones and David Tennant.

Somewhat surprisingly, Tom Hardy got a Drama Performance nod for his portrayal of vengeful land heir James Keziah Delaney in Taboo — but the series itself didn't receive a Drama Series nod.

Likewise, Victoria was nowhere to be found in the Drama Series category this year, despite leading actress Jenna Coleman being recognised for Drama Performance. On the flip side, Liar got a Drama Series nomination, while leads Joanne Froggatt and Ioan Gruffudd were left out.

The NTAs continue to classify Casualty as a Drama rather than a Serial, which would perhaps more appropriately put it into contention with the likes of Coronation Street and EastEnders.

Despite the classification controversy, Casualty actually pipped Cold Feet, Game of Thrones, Happy Valley and The Night Manager to win the Drama Series gong at last year's ceremony.

In the Challenge Show categories, Channel 4's Great British Bake Off reboot was popular enough to put it in contention with I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, Love Island and MasterChef.

However, Prue Leith is no doubt feeling left out because only her colleague Paul Hollywood was nominated in the TV Judge category.

Dermot O'Leary will host the 23rd National Television Awards from The O2 in London on Tuesday, January 23, with live coverage airing on ITV.
