ITV aired the fourth episode of Victoria series three tonight (April 14) and left viewers in an emotional wreckage, after killing off a fan-favourite character.
The titular Queen and Albert are clashing with each other, complicated by his competing for the position of Chancellor of the University of Cambridge.

Outside of the palace, more serious matters are at hand, as London is hit with an outbreak of cholera thanks to contaminated water in Soho (which is almost as lethal as the alcohol they currently serve in Soho).
Nancy Skerrett, Victoria's former maid, reveals to her new husband Francatelli that they are about to become a full family. Suffering with morning sickness, she takes some medicine to help out and... you can see where this is going, can't you?
The tonic was actually made with the contaminated water, and Nancy develops cholera herself, dying shortly after a visit from Victoria. After her passing, Victoria reads the letter of resignation that she ignored before, while Francatelli renames the hotel to Nancy's.

The scenes were absolutely heartbreaking for viewers, who found the time to post tweets and gifs in-between wiping away their tears.
After the show aired, actor Nel Hudson and Ferdinand Kingsley confirmed they were both leaving the show, thanked fans for creating a hashtag for their coupling and encouraged people to stick with the show despite their departure.
Victoria airs Sunday nights at 9pm on ITV.
