The outrage over Pepsi's bizarre Kendall Jenner advert has led to it being pulled after just 24 hours.
It's a swift end to one of the most ill-conceived commercials in the history of advertising, after uniting people as ideologically opposed as Black Lives Matter's DeRay Mckesson and Trump ally Piers Morgan in sheer disgust.
The ad featured Kendall Jenner being lured away from a modelling shoot by a cute boy protester who's leading a social movement. What the social movement stood for or against was anyone's guess.
Even more disturbing was that the massive protest climaxed with Kendall handing a Pepsi to a tense police officer blocking the demonstrator's way. Seriously, guys?!
If you found Pepsi and activism to be a less than tasty combination, you'll be pleased to know that the cola company has deleted the ad from its social channels and made a public apology.
What to Read Next
"Pepsi was trying to project a global message of unity, peace and understanding," the company said in a statement. "Clearly we missed the mark, and we apologise. We did not intend to make light of any serious issue. We also apologise for putting Kendall Jenner in this position."
While the ad has officially been pulled by Pepsi, it's still fairly easy to find among the Kendall and Kylie Jenner fan community's social feeds. Like the video below, for example:
Kendall Jenner has yet to comment on the controversy on her own social media accounts, and her mum Kris seemed oblivious to the outrage just as it was taking off on Twitter on Tuesday.
"So proud of you @kendalljenner," she wrote in a now-deleted tweet. "Thank you @pepsi for choosing Kendall to be the face of your new campaign! #Pepsi #PepsiMoment #LiveforNow"
Before you place the blame on Kendall, remember that she didn't actually create the ad. That dubious distinction belongs to Pepsi's marketing team…
