Piers Morgan has mocked Ewan McGregor and told him to stick to chatting about films, after he skipped his interview on Good Morning Britain because he disliked the presenter's comments about the Women's March.

Explaining the Star Wars and Trainspotting actor's absence from the show, Piers said: "So because I didn't think the march was a fantastic thing, because I didn't agree with the politics of with, Ewan McGregor, who is an actor, who was here to talk about a movie, has decided that he can't come and talk about his movie.

"Which I think is a shame and it kinda plays into my view that maybe actors should just talk about their films and not get so worked up about politics, as it's not really their game."

On Saturday Piers had slated the march via Twitter, saying he wanted do his own "Men's March" to stop the "creeping global emasculation of my gender by rabid feminists".

However Piers' co-host Susanna Reid contested that a lot of people weren't happy with his remarks about the Women's March, which saw millions of women take to the streets in protest for the sanctity of women's rights.

The 46-year-old presenter said: "Although, a lot of people took issue with your comments about the Women's March, including the woman who sits next to you every morning."

But still Piers – along with Susanna – felt that the T2 actor should have made his way into the studio to debate his point of view, rather than simply skip the interview altogether. He conceded that it was a "big shame'.

Meanwhile over on Twitter, Piers was far less diplomatic and dubbed Ewan a "coward" for his choice to skip the show.

Nevertheless, Ewan was applauded by many for his decision and in a Digital Spy poll, 80% of you have said you're on the actor's side when it comes to the Women's March debate.

This isn't the first time Piers' controversial opinions have made headlines for Good Morning Britain. He had a very public feud with Lady Gaga when he claimed she used her PTSD for publicity – the singer responded by saying she would be more than happy to debate him on the issue.

He also reduced one mother to tears while chastising her for charging another parent hundreds of pounds, after pen marks were left on her 3-year-old daughter's shoes.
