Those kind people at the BBC have released a new trailer highlighting all the amazing shows we have to look forward to this year and oh my word, we can't wait.

With the first 30 seconds dedicated to the brilliant drama we were treated to last year, of course we see plenty of Tom Hiddleston in The Night Manager and Lily James in War and Peace - not to mention lots of Benedict Cumberbatch's Sherlock staring moodily into the camera ahead of tonight's (January 15) series finale.

But then in comes the good stuff, with snippets of new Doctor Foster and Line of Duty doing its job of getting us really excited for the new episodes - especially as the show's leading ladies Suranne Jones and Thandie Newton are looking rather rather tense in the preview.

If that's not enough, there's also a glimpse at new thriller Clique, which comes from Skins writer Jess Brittain and has previously been described as "a seductive, intense drama about friendship tested to extremes".

That's another one to tune into then.

Also in the clip, Sheridan Smith looks to follow her starring turn in ITV's Cilla with an almost unrecognisable turn in The Moorside, while Nicole Kidman looks tense in Top of the Lake and Emily Watson is locked in a very heated moment Apple Tree Yard.

And that's not to mention all those new looks at The Last Kingdom, Broken and SS-GB - which has an amazing cast including Kate Bosworth and Sam Riley - with some Taboo and Sherlock clips thrown in for good measure too.

You'll be able to see the trailer on TV for the first time after tonight's Sherlock finale, but until then you can watch it over and over again right here as you prepare to cancel all your plans and plonk yourself in front of the telly for pretty much the whole of 2017.

Don't forget to vote for your favourite TV shows in this year's National Television Awards! Shortlist voting closes at 12 midday on Wednesday, January 25.
