Our morbid anticipation for The Fall series three has just jumped up a notch with these first-look photos.
The BBC has released two images from the upcoming final series, which see Gillian Anderson's DSI Stella Gibson looking worried on the phone and Jamie Dornan's Paul Spector in a tunnel from the looks of it.
One thing seems certain though – unless there's some flashback storytelling going on, the world's most handsome serial killer appears to be alive and well despite finishing the last series shot by the thuggish Jimmy Tyler (Brian Milligan) and fighting for his life.
Colin Morgan's DS Tom Anderson will also appear in The Fall series three, alongside the likes of John Lynch as Stella's lusty colleague Jim Burns and Valene Kane as Spector survivor Rose Stagg.
Last month, Archie Panjabi confirmed that she won't be returning to The Fall for its final series – but will be tuning in as a fan.
Series creator and writer Allan Cubitt teased what was in store in the final series earlier this year, saying: "Obviously I don't want to give anything away about how the third series will end but I can say that I am looking forward to working with both Gillian and Jamie again in the near future!"
The Fall will return to BBC Two this autumn. Watch a moody teaser for series three below:
