And on that bombshell… we finally know the full lineup of Chris Evans's rebooted Top Gear on the BBC – and it's an eclectic bunch of well-known faces and complete unknowns.
The question a lot of you are probably asking is: Who? Evans has fulfilled his promises of not only including a woman in the lineup (how modern), but also introducing new car nuts via an extensive audition process.
But who are Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond's replacements? Here's your quick guide to the magnificent seven.
1. CHRIS HARRIS - THE YOUTUBER
Evans has made sure he is down with the kids by hiring Harris, who is best known for his YouTube channel Chris Harris on Cars. Launched in 2014 with Neil Carey, the channel has over a quarter of a million subscribers and over 20 million views.

Before this, he wrote for Autocar magazine, and eventually became their road-test editor. He later moved to Evo magazine and has been a regular on YouTube's DRIVE channel. So he's very comfortable behind the camera.
By bringing in Harris, Top Gear is also attracting an established fanbase who already know and love his style of motor coverage. Harris will provide a level-headed approach that would make James May proud. Another brilliant choice by Evans.
2. SABINE SCHMITZ - THE PRO DRIVER
German racing driver Sabine is already a familiar face for Top Gear fans, having appeared on the show several times in the past. Most famously, the Queen of the Nurbugring scared the crap out of Richard Hammond during a hilarious van challenge in 2005 (see above).
Sabine becomes the first female Top Gear presenter in 15 years (sadly still no room for original version hosts Angela Rippon or Kate Humble). She was also the first woman to win the Nurburgring 24 hours in 1996, and then did it again the next year. She still races today and runs her own race team.
She is clearly beyond fearless and is easily the best driver of the lot (though The Stig might have something to say about that). Her presence adds some spark but also some genuine professional petrolhead experience. And she's hilarious.
3. RORY REID - THE TECH SPECIALIST
Journalist Rory has written about cars for nearly two decades, and has presented for CNET UK and launched its Car Tech channel, so he knows his stuff. He has also appeared in several car-related TV shows including Sky1's Gadget Geeks and the Fast Furious & Funny YouTube channel. He is also currently the editor-in-chief of tech-comparison site Recombu. Essentially: he knows a lot about cars and that.
Rory got the gig after completing a series of public auditions in 2015. Evans said that he "blew [him] away and fully deserves his place on the team".
In the video above he's pretty much given us a brilliant example of his ease of presenting behind the wheel, and he seems a right laugh. He's clearly very relaxed, and very passionate about what he's talking about – Evans may have found a winner here.
4. EDDIE JORDAN - THE F1 EXPERT
A legend in motorsport, Irishman EJ is a former driver and team owner who helped launch the careers of many icons including Michael Schumacher, Rubens Barrichello and Eddie Irvine. After a series of accidents, he retired from racing to launch his Jordan team in 1980 – who later became champions of Formula 3 and Formula 3000.
In 1990, he entered Formula 1 before selling Jordan in 2005. He has since become quite the businessman as well as co-hosting the BBC's coverage of F1. He also has an OBE, so he's a proper person.
It's an understatement to say that Eddie knows a bit about cars, but for someone whose background is all about motorsports (something that Clarkson was never a huge fan of), it'll be fascinating to see him reviewing the latest family hatchback.
5. MATT LEBLANC - THE BIG AMERICAN STAR
To be honest, we don't know much about Matt's car background other than he is still the fastest person in Top Gear's 'Star in a Reasonably Priced Car' segment, and he generally loves a bit of driving. But if you were able to sign up a bonafide Hollywood star, you can't really blame Chris for taking a punt.
He's clearly being recruited to capitalise on the Stateside love for Top Gear, which ranks as BBC America's top show with around 823,000 viewers per episode - pretty huge for a plucky British show on a US cable network. By including Matt, they're at least keeping its international audience interested after they lost Clarkson and friends.
In case you didn't know, Matt is best known for playing Joey Tribbiani in Friends (and its ill-fated Joey spinoff) – which did have a couple of classic car-related scenes including Joey's love for a stranger's Porsche (a brand Matt still loves to this day).
Since then, he's had a resurgence in recent years after playing a fictional version of himself in the award-winning comedy Episodes, and he has just signed up for new CBS sitcom I'm Not Your Friend – so he's going to have a very busy 2016.
6. CHRIS EVANS - THE SEASONED HOST
The guv'nor. The new Clarkson. Despite insisting he would never host a new Top Gear following the previous trio's exit, he did just that a few weeks later. And it was to be expected. Not only a darling of the BBC, but a broadcasting giant too.
He's also known for his love of cars, having stocked up a big collection of fast cars, particularly Ferraris at his gaff. In 2010, he bought a 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO for £12 MILLION. He had to sell three others to pay for it. He then sold it for more than double what he paid for it three years later. He's a crafty one, Evans.
He also founded the CarFest charity motoring festival as another outlet for his obsession, helping raise over £3 million for Children in Need. Oh yeah, he also hosts the BBC Radio 2 breakfast show and Channel 4's TFI Friday (having left his regular gig as a One Show host because, y'know, he's quite a busy man these days.
7. THE STIG - THE DAFT PUNK MEETS BOBA FETT ICON
Some say… he can only do sit-ups five minutes after eating staple sandwiches. And he owns every single Mighty Max and Polly Pocket collectible known to man.
All we know is… he's called The Stig.
