The Fortune spoilers follow.

The Fortune delivered answers to some of its biggest mysteries in a dramatic finale, finally revealing the truth about Amanda's missing father, Boots' death and the future of the Worrall family fortune.

Throughout the Channel 5 thriller, Amanda (Eleanor Tomlinson) has found herself at the centre of an increasingly dangerous inheritance battle after unexpectedly becoming the beneficiary of a vast fortune. By the final episode, however, it became clear that the money was only one piece of a much larger puzzle.

The finale opens with Amanda facing pressure from all sides. Not only is she struggling to locate her missing mother Linda (Paula Wilcox), but her husband Jimmy (Matthew Lewis) has seemingly vanished too.

As she searched for answers, Amanda discovered a photograph of her parents by the sea labelled "happy place". The clue ultimately led her to a remote fishing hut, where she finally found Linda.

But the biggest revelations came moments later.

What happened to Amanda's father?

After years of believing her father was dead, Amanda discovered that local taxi driver Barry was actually her father. The twist completely changed her understanding of her family history as Barry explained that he never abandoned his wife and daughter in the way she had been led to believe all her life.

Instead, he claimed that Martin Worrall had stolen his money years earlier and developed feelings for Linda. According to Barry, Martin wanted him out of the way and subsequently arranged for Boots to have him killed.

However, Barry said he discovered the plot before it could be carried out and staged his own death by setting a trap for the hired hitman. He then chose to remain hidden, believing Linda and Amanda would be better off without him and avoiding consequences for killing the man hired to get rid of him, while Linda was told by the Worralls he'd died.

The finale also revealed why Jimmy had been acting suspiciously throughout the show, particularly after finding out about the inheritance. Barry admitted he'd recruited Jimmy to help keep his existence hidden. Jimmy later apologised to Amanda for lying, but insisted his intentions were good.

Who killed Boots?

One of the series' biggest questions finally received an answer during the closing confrontation at the Worrall estate. Amanda arrived armed with information that Anthony had been hiding family secrets, while Anthony was still reeling after discovering that Boots was his biological father.

Amanda then accused Anthony of getting rid of Boots. Although Anthony initially brushes it off, Barry's sudden appearance threw everything into chaos. Faced with the collapse of everything he believed about his family, Anthony spiralled as he realised he'd lost both his inheritance and his identity - which led him to turn a gun on himself in front of his mother Fiona and Amanda, proving his guilt.

What happened to Linda?

The finale's most emotional moment came shortly after Anthony's death. Linda had asked Amanda to allow her to remain at the fishing hut rather than spend her final days in hospital. Amanda reluctantly honoured her wishes.

But upon her return from the Worrall estate, Amanda discovers that her mother had died during her absence, with Jimmy watching over her. The death brought a bittersweet end to the mystery surrounding Amanda's parents, with Barry tearfully mourning the passing of his other half.

Does Amanda keep the money?

Yes, but not in the way viewers might expect. After spending the entire series fighting over the inheritance, Amanda ultimately chooses not to embrace a life of luxury. Instead, she accepts the money left to her while making sure Fiona Worrall's world isn't turned upside down.

Amanda allows the widow to keep the family home and puts funds aside for her son Luke's future. Rather than moving into a mansion of transforming her own lifestyle, Amanda even returns to Sandy's cafe to demand her old job back, claiming it's where she feels the happiest.

The final scenes even see Amanda reuniting with Jimmy as she realises that wealth can come in a multitude of ways.
