The One Show has become one of the BBC's most reliable weekday staples, but viewers tuning in this Friday (22 May) will quickly notice something is missing from the evening schedule on BBC One.
Fronted by Alex Jones and Roman Kemp, the long-running chat show is known for blending entertainment segments into its early evening format. Over the years, the programme has also become accustomed to regular scheduling disruptions whenever major BBC events take priority.
This Friday is no different, as the popular show has been temporarily pulled from the primetime line-up to make room for another major annual event: the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, which has been taking up space on the TV schedule this week.

When is The One Show coming back to BBC1?
BBC One won't air The One Show this Friday evening as it will dedicate the slot to the penultimate day of the Chelsea Flower Show. The annual gardening event ends this Saturday, 23 May, and takes over parts of the BBC schedule every May, with special programmes airing across the week to showcase elaborate displays, celebrity guests and award-winning gardens featuring at the show.
Alex Jones confirmed the scheduling change during Thursday's (21 May) edition of The One Show, after welcoming a variety of guests onto the sofa, including comedian Tom Allen and former EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy.

Tom appeared to discuss his new book, Common Decency, while Natalie opened up about her upcoming BBC project, Caring Together, which follows her journey training to become a carer. The instalment also featured interviews with the remaining finalists from Race Across the World ahead of the programme's finale.
It wasn't until the end of the broadcast that Alex delivered the update on The One Show's temporary absence from the TV schedule. "We are off air tomorrow to make way for the Chelsea Flower Show, but we will be back on Monday at the earlier time of 6.30pm," Alex said. The earlier time on Monday allows space in the schedule for Natalie Cassidy's new programme to air at 7pm.
