A Good Girl's Guide to Murder season one spoilers follow.
A Good Girl's Guide to Murder returns for a darker second season as Pip Fitz-Amobi finds herself pulled into another dangerous investigation – but viewers can also expect several major cast additions shaking up Little Kilton.
Based on Holly Jackson's second novel Good Girl, Bad Blood, the new season picks up just weeks after the explosive ending of season one, which saw the truth behind Andie Bell and Sal Singh's deaths finally exposed.

Emma Myers reprises her role as teen sleuth Pip, who is still struggling with the emotional fallout of her first investigation. While the town continues to reel from Elliot Ward's imprisonment for Sal's murder, another resident is also preparing to face justice.
Season two opens with Max Hastings awaiting trial after being accused of drugging and sexually assaulting several girls. Multiple witnesses are expected to testify against him – until Pip discovers one key witness, Becca Bell, has suddenly decided to withdraw from the stand.

The development immediately pushes Pip back towards another mystery despite her attempts to move on from investigating crimes altogether. But alongside returning characters, season two introduces several new faces who quickly become central to the unfolding story.
Among the most significant additions is Eden H Davies as Jamie Reynolds, a local musician whose sudden disappearance becomes the central mystery of the season. Although Jamie was already a part of Little Kilton before, the new episodes finally bring him directly into the limelight. "He’s known everyone since they were very young but in season one, Jamie was always on the fringe of what was going on," Eden told the BBC about his character. "This time, he’s at the heart of Pip’s investigation."
Pip initially believes Jamie's disappearance may somehow be connected to Max Hastings' upcoming trial as Jamie himself is also a witness in the case. However, Emma Myers teased that Pip approaches the situation differently this time around after the devastating consequences of season one. "Pip’s a bit reluctant to help find Jamie because of what has happened in the past, where, through uncovering who killed Andie and Sal, Pip, not intentionally, ruins a few people’s lives."
The new season also introduces Misia Butler as Stanley Forbes, a journalist investigating Little Kilton's secrets from the outside. Stanley's arrival appears set to complicate matters even further as media attention circles the town again.
Meanwhile, Jack Rowan joins the cast as Charlie Green, Pip's new neighbour who quickly becomes entangled in the mystery surrounding Jamie's disappearance. Elsewhere, Freddie England appears as Robin Hasting – Max's cousin and a controversial addition to the wider friend group after he embarks on a relationship with Lauren.
While the mystery itself forms the backbone of season two, the emotional fallout from season one remains just as important. Much of the season focuses on Pip's growing trauma following her previous investigation, particularly after she launches a podcast discussing the case in an attempt to process everything that happened.

But the podcast creates major tension between Pip and her best friend, Cara. "Pip is a good friend, but sometimes she has tunnel vision," says Emma. "Her idea of what is right and what is wrong can be skewed. At times, Pip doesn’t understand nuance. Releasing a podcast about her best friend’s dad while they are still in school, where everyone can listen and make fun of Cara wasn’t the best idea for their friendship."
For Cara Ward, played by Asha Banks, the new season begins in an especially painful place following her father Elliot's imprisonment. Asha explained that Cara spends much of season two emotionally isolated from the rest of the friendship group.
"She is still very much dealing with the trauma that happened in season one and the discoveries that emerged by the end of it," she said. "This season for her is quite hard, especially the dynamic between her and Pip. Cara is figuring out what their relationship is and how they move forward with that, and her overall place in the group when she feels like an outcast. Right now, Cara is just trying to get through every day."
With Pip battling guilt, fractured friendships and another missing person case, season two of A Good Girl's Guide to Murder appears to be set to push the Netflix and BBC mystery far beyond the cosy crime drama viewers first expected. But for Pip, it may be harder to know who she can actually trust.
A Good Girl's Guide to Murder airs on Netflix and BBC Three from Wednesday, 27 May.
