Line of Duty, which first hit our screens back in 2012, is now available to watch on Netflix.

After spanning six seasons, culminating in a divisive finale back in 2021, the procedural has become a cult classic in the UK and is widely thought of as one of the best British police dramas on offer. The series as a whole currently boasts an impressive 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes, with its earliest four seasons still sitting with a perfect 100% certification.

Digital Spy previously branded it "a series that's almost perfection", The Times called its characters "memorable" and the plot "meticulous", while New York Times' said of the second season: "Line of Duty stands out as original and surprising. Season 2 is, if anything, even more brutal and thrilling."

Line of Duty centres on the work of anti-corruption unit AC-12, led by Superintendent Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar). His core team are made up of Detective Inspector Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure) and Detective Inspector Steve Arnott (Martin Compston), and together they work to uncover dodgy dealings and suspected connections to organised crime within the police force.

Given the nature of the drama, Line of Duty has boasted a number of brilliant villains over the years, as well as an all-star cast of guests. The BBC show has seen the likes of Lennie James, Stephen Graham, Keeley Hawes, Thandiwe Newton, Jason Watkins, Anna Maxwell Martin and Mark Bonnar across the seasons.

The beloved British series was created by Jed Mercurio, who has also been behind other TV hits like Bodyguard (starring Keeley Hawes and Richard Madden) and medical drama Breathtaking (also written by Rachel Clarke and Prasanna Puwanarajah, starring Joanne Froggatt).

Since it came to its conclusion in the season six finale, Line of Duty fans have been wondering whether a seventh season might be on the cards.

Some of the show's stars have responded to the speculation over the years, with Martin Compston revealing in May that they're "always talking about possibilities and schedules and whatnot", before adding that everyone was fairly busy and so any possible return "would be a way off" (via The Sun).

Looks like now is the perfect time to settle in for a re-watch then. And if you're yet to experience Line of Duty, head to Netflix or BBC iPlayer now...
