Lorraine Kelly has shared a health update after undergoing "preventative" surgery on Saturday.

Taking to Instagram on Saturday, Lorraine shared a video from her hospital bed, explaining that she was having a "wee procedure".

In the post, the presenter said she was in hospital for "preventative" keyhole surgery to have her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed.

Sharing an update with fans on Sunday, Lorraine said she was back at home and recovering from the operation, while praising the staff at the hospital where she received treatment.

In an Instagram post, Lorraine shared a picture of herself in a wheelchair surrounded by hospital workers, which she captioned: "Huge thanks to these kind, caring, gorgeous professionals who took care of me at @heatherwoodhospital - back home now and following doctors orders to rest up.

The post was flooded with messages from fans and celebrities, who took to the comment section to wish Lorraine a speedy recovery.

Announcing the surgery on Saturday, Lorraine said: "Hi there, it's Lorraine here. I'm having a wee procedure today. I've not been feeling all that well for a little while.

"So I had some scans and tests, and I have to have my ovaries and tubes taken out. It's purely preventative. It's going to be [done by] keyhole surgery which is incredible. I'm being very well looked after and I'll obviously see you really soon. I'll be totally fine. See you soon."
