The BBC has confirmed the release date for Austin, an Australian comedy drama series starring Ben Miller and Sally Phillips.
The series premiered Down Under back in June of last year, and will finally be coming to UK on Friday, April 4.
All eight episodes will be available to watch on streaming service iPlayer from that date, while the first episode will air on BBC One at 9.30pm.
The show stars Miller as children's author Julian Hartswood, who has seemingly ruined the career of both himself and his illustrator wife Ingrid, played by Phillips, after posting something he shouldn't have on social media.
Not long after, Julian's neurodivergent son that he never knew existed – the titular Austin – turns up out of the blue. Julian wonders if embracing his child and building a 'modern' nuclear family – all captured by a documentary crew, of course – will be his ticket out of cancellation jail.

He'll soon learn, however, that Austin isn't the pushover he expected, while Ingrid isn't exactly on his side either.
Alongside Death in Paradise actor Miller and Bridget Jones star Phillips, the series also stars Michael Theo, the breakout star of reality series Love on the Spectrum Australia, as Austin.

Reviews have highlighted Theo's performance as one of the show's best aspects, with The West Australian, which called Austin "a laugh out-loud must-see", writing that the reality star-turned-actor "delivers his lines with such incredible comic timing, that it's strange to think he'd never acted until recently".
The Australian version of The Guardian added that Theo has an "understated but thoroughly irresistible charm" and called for a second season, which has since been confirmed.
Austin premieres on BBC One on Friday, April 4. All episodes will also be available on iPlayer on that date.
