The Wheel of Time star Rosamund Pike has teased a "frightening" return to the stage for a new role.

Appearing on The One Show, Saltburn star Pike opened up about returning to the stage after over a decade away.

Making her National Theatre debut this year, Pike is set to star in Inter Alia, a play by Suzie Miller which examines motherhood and modern masculinity.

Opening up about her return to the stage, Pike, who last appeared on stage back in 2010, said she spent a lot of time acting in theatres during her early career, but now finds the prospect daunting.

"All through my 20s I was on stage a lot and it felt sort of natural and right, and now it’s frightening," Pike told hosts Alex Jones and JB Gill.

"I’m playing a judge in a play by Suzie Miller, who wrote Prima Facie. It’s a very exciting project," she explained.

Speaking about the play, Pike said: "It’s also about a mother raising a son, and I have two sons, so that’s very close to my heart.

"And it’s really about the juggle of life, and when you’ve given your life over to the law, is the law enough when things start to get rough? So it’s challenging and exciting."

Elsewhere in the interview, Pike touched on the latest series of her fantasy show The Wheel Of Time, which is currently in its third season.

In the epic fantasy series from Prime Video, which has returned to rave reviews, Pike stars as sorceress Moiraine Damodred.

She said of the show: "We’re very proud of it. We’re a very close cast. We’ve weathered a lot together, and this is definitely our most elaborate and complex.

"And I think it’s the offering we’re most proud of. It’s the most ambitious, and it’s beautiful."

Inter Alia is staged at the Lyttelton Theatre between July 10 and September 13. National Theatre Live will broadcast the play live to cinemas around the UK on September 4, 2025.
