"Without question, Black Lightning delivers a better pilot than any of its DC TV sister series, many of which went on to great success after shaky debuts."

However, the show came to an end after three years, showrunner Salim Akil saying at the time: "When we first started the Black Lighting journey, I knew that Jefferson Pierce and his family of powerful Black women would be a unique addition to the superhero genre.

"The love that Blerds and all comic book fans around the globe have shown this series over the past three seasons proved what we imagined: Black people want to see themselves in all their complexities."

Nafessa Williams, who recently appeared as Cameron Cook in Disney+'s Rivals, played the role of Jefferson's daughter Anissa in the series, while Descendants' China Anne McClain played sister Jennifer.

Black Lightning will be available to stream on ITVX from March 23.
