Sky has released a first teaser trailer for its upcoming original drama Sweetpea, which stars Ella Purnell (most recently seen in Prime Video's Fallout).
Purnell, who also acts as executive producer on the series, will take on the leading role of Rhiannon, who has been described as a "quiet wallflower who develops a vengeful and intoxicatingly liberating taste for murder".
The teaser trailer introduces Rhiannon, whose narration tells us: "People don't really see me, not at all actually. Lately, I've been getting really angry. Like, really angry."

We then see Purnell's character, in a white shirt splattered in blood, screaming into the camera. The teaser ends by revealing a release window, confirming that Sweetpea will be released in October.
"I truly cannot wait for the world to meet Sweetpea," Purnell said of the show. "I've loved exploring this incredibly complex character, as well as working alongside our dynamic cast and powerhouses Ella Jones [director], Kirstie Swain [writer], and Patrick Walters [executive producer]."

The actor, who also played fan-favourite character Jackie in the hit show Yellowjackets, added that Sweetpea has "been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my career so far."
"At its core, the series is about a woman finally finding her voice, told through a uniquely dark and comedic lens," Purnell added. "I hope audiences have as much fun going on Rhiannon Lewis' wild, coming-of-rage journey as we did bringing it to life."
Ella Purnell will be joined on screen by Nicôle Lecky (from BBC Three's Mood), Jon Pointing (of Channel 4's Big Boys), Leah Harvey (Apple TV+'s Foundation), Calam Lynch (Bridgerton) and Dustin Demri-Burns (Slow Horses).
Sweetpea is a six-part series based on the cult hit novel of the same name, written by C J Skuse and originally published in 2017.
Sweetpea will premiere in October 2024 on Sky and NOW.
