Where is Call the Midwife filmed?

Although the period drama is set in the East End of London in the 1950s and 1960s, it is actually filmed at The Historic Dockyard of Chatham in Kent. The Call the Midwife Official Location Tour, in partnership with Neal Street Productions – the creators of the popular television show, runs from March to October when the actors take a break from filming. During the tour, visitors will be guided by a costumed midwife along the cobbled streets of ‘Poplar’ and will be able to explore the sets, costumes and props.

BBC

The series, which first aired on the BBC in 2012, was originally based on Jennifer Worth’s number-one bestseller Call the Midwife: A True Story of The East End In The 1950s. The memoir recounted stories of life as a newly-qualified midwife working with a group of nuns in Poplar. In the first series, Jessica Raine played Jenny Lee, a character based on the writer herself. The award-winning series now follows a new group of midwives and nuns in the 1960s.
