The third and (sadly) final series of Derry Girls is set to air on Channel 4 from next week – but many of the show's fans aren't quite ready to say goodbye to Erin, Clare, Orla, Michelle and James just yet.
As a result of its dedicated fanbase, there has been some discussion about the prospect of Derry Girls getting its own spin-off movie after the series ends.
Derry Girls creator Lisa McGee briefly addressed this possibility when talking to Radio Times, saying: "Who knows!"

McGee went on to explain how although she isn't completely ruling a movie out, she feels that she has taken all the characters "exactly where [she] wanted to take them".
"You never know what will happen in 10 years' time, but as a writer, you just know when it's complete," she added.
Although this is not the encouraging news that fans were hoping for, it does still leave them with some possibility of a movie in the future. Fingers crossed.

The possibility doesn't seem too far fetched since it was announced that Peaky Blinders will be getting a movie spin-off following the end of the TV series. And after Downton Abbey ended on TV in 2015, a follow-up movie premiered in 2019 – and it already has a sequel lined up for later this year.
All isn't over yet, though, since we can still prepare ourselves for the final series of Derry Girls, where we'll get to see Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Louisa Harland, Nicola Coughlan, Jamie-Lee O'Donnell and Dylan Llewellyn reprising their iconic roles for the final time.
Derry Girls' third and final series premieres on Tuesday, April 12 on Channel 4, while series 1-2 are also available on Netflix.
