The A Word has confirmed a new spin-off series for BBC One, focusing on characters Ralph and Katie.
The new series, titled simply Ralph and Katie, will consist of six 30-minute episodes, following characters played by Leon Harrop and Sarah Gordy.
The show will follow the couple, who both have Down's Syndrome, in the first year of their marriage as they face a new set of challenges together.
The A Word's Peter Bowker is back on board to pen the series, and he'll be joined by a team of up-and-coming disabled writers to help create the show.
Bowker said of the new spin-off: "Ralph and Katie is a natural step forwards from the ongoing ambition of The A Word to increase representation and diversity both on and off screen.
"Equally exciting is the opportunity to work again with two young actors as talented as Leon and Sarah."

The A Word, which returned for a third series in May, follows the Hughes family, whose lives are changed after their son Joe (Max Vento) is diagnosed with autism. The most recent season saw Joe come to terms with his parents Alison (Morven Christie) and Paul (Lee Ingleby) splitting up.
In the series, Ralph is the son of Louise Wilson (Pooky Quesnel), who is dating Maurice Scott (Christopher Ecclestone).
The A Word also stars Greg McHugh and Vinette Robinson, Molly Wright and Julie Hesmondhalgh.
Ralph and Katie will air on BBC One.
