The Disney+ streaming service is almost one year old and in that time it has surpassed 100 million subscribers worldwide.

You might have skipped signing up to the streaming home of all things Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic this last year in favour of Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, but it's grown to include shows like The Mandalorian, and WandaVision, along with movie releases like Mulan, Soul, and Raya and the Last Dragon.

Disney Plus price: How much does Disney+ cost?

Even with a recent price increase, Disney+ is still one of the most affordable streaming services on offer.

It’s available on a monthly or yearly basis, but it's usually best to sign up for a year and just pay upfront if you can afford it. This option will actually give you a 15% discount too.

The whole year will cost you £79.90, or it’s £7.99 a month.

So, how does this compare to the competition?

Netflix Standard: Monthly = £9.99, Yearly = £119.88

Disney Plus profiles: How many users can I set up?

Disney+ is the subscription service for families, and that’s made clear by the number of profiles you can set up without having to pay extra.

You can create up to seven on the same account, each with different profile pictures – dibs on Baby Yoda.

Disney Plus design: How does it look on the screen?

Disney+ has a clean, easily readable and simple-to-navigate layout. When you load it up, you're greeted with a highlighted movie or TV show and then you’ll see rows of content by category, much like Netflix.

The first tier will show the main sections: Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic and Star. You can click on these to narrow down your selection. This makes it easier to get to all the movies set in a galaxy far, far away, for example.

Disney Plus content: What do you get with Disney Plus?

Among the thousands of hours of content, you’ll find big movies (think Avengers Endgame, Avatar and the Star Wars saga) alongside hits from Disney Animation Studios and Pixar.

It now offers Premium Access for titles that missed a cinematic release last year. A one-time £19.99 fee will let you watch a film as often as you like. For now, this is the only way to watch the new release Raya and the Last Dragon.

If you can think of a Disney movie, it's probably on there. And there’s plenty more to look forward to, like Falcon and The Winter Soldier (March 19) or Loki (June 11).

Recently, Disney+ added extra content for more mature audiences. The new arrivals are collected under the Star section.

Within Star, you’ll find shows like 24, Lost, and Grey's Anatomy. There are movies including The Favourite and The Grand Budapest Hotel and classics like Pretty Woman and Moulin Rouge.

More Star Originals will arrive over time, like the crime thriller series Big Sky and Love, Simon spin-off series Love, Victor.

How many devices can you have on Disney Plus?

It's not just TVs where you can tune into Disney+ – there's a long list of supported devices.

The full list includes – deep breath – most Apple iOS and Android phones and tablets, Google Chromecast, both major games consoles (PlayStation and Xbox), Samsung, LG and Android-based Sony TVs, Roku streaming players, Sky Q, and all of Amazon's Fire TV streaming devices.

You can also watch in 4K Ultra HD if your telly can handle it, and on more than 10 devices at any one time.

Disney Plus verdict: Should you sign up for Disney Plus?

Disney+ has an excellent library of titles in an easy-to-manage interface for an affordable price. We'd recommend signing up for the service. Fans will love having Marvel, Star Wars, and Pixar all in one place, and if you find you don't use it that much, you can cancel at any time.
